What is Tegami Club?
Tegami Club is a monthly letter subscription from Japan.
Each month, you’ll receive a letter sharing everyday life in Japan—from the changing seasons and small daily moments to thoughts and stories from life here.
It’s a quiet, personal way to experience a little piece of Japan, wherever you are.
Do I need to know Japanese?
Not at all.
Every letter comes with a full English translation, so you can enjoy it whether you’re learning Japanese, just getting started, or simply curious about everyday life in Japan.
Which letter should I choose: Beginner or Natural Japanese?
Beginner Japanese is designed for those who are just starting to learn Japanese. The letter is written mainly in hiragana, with simple vocabulary and easy-to-follow sentences.
Natural Japanese is written the way Japanese is naturally used in everyday life, with hiragana, katakana, and everyday kanji.
Both versions come with a full English translation and a Letter Companion to help you understand and enjoy the letter.
If you’re new to Japanese, we recommend starting with Beginner Japanese. If you’re comfortable reading some Japanese and want to experience more natural expressions, Natural Japanese may be a better fit.
What will I receive each month?
Each month, you’ll receive a letter from Japan, a full English translation, and a Letter Companion designed to help you enjoy the letter more deeply.
You’ll also receive a small stationery surprise from Japan, such as stickers, memo sheets, or other little paper items. We choose these little surprises from what we find in Japan, so each package may be a little different—even within the same month. Think of it as part of the fun of opening your letter from Japan.
The surprise shown in our product photos is just one example of what you may receive.
What is the Letter Companion?
The Letter Companion is a small learning sheet included with your monthly letter.
It highlights useful words or expressions from the letter and includes simple activities to help you understand and enjoy the Japanese in the letter. You’ll also find little notes about everyday life and culture in Japan.
The content is tailored to the letter version you choose, so Beginner and Natural Japanese members receive different Letter Companions.
Will the letters always be handwritten?
The first 50 members will receive fully handwritten letters at launch.
Handwritten letters are not guaranteed for the full length of your subscription. As Tegami Club grows, we may move to a printed format in the future.
If the format changes, we’ll let members know clearly in advance.
SHIPPING & DELIVERY
Is shipping included?
Yes. International shipping from Japan is included in your $11.99/month subscription price. There are no additional shipping fees.
Where do you ship?
We currently ship to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
If we don’t ship to your country yet, feel free to get in touch. Knowing where people are interested in Tegami Club helps us decide where we may ship next.
When will my first letter be sent?
Orders placed by the 25th of each month are included in that month’s mailing. Orders placed after the 25th are included in the following month’s mailing.
Letters are mailed from Japan around the 27th of each month.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery times vary depending on the destination and local postal service.
Since each letter travels internationally from Japan, arrival times may vary from country to country.
Does shipping include tracking?
No. Letters are sent via Japan Post International Standard Mail, which does not include tracking.
What if my letter doesn’t arrive?
Because international delivery times can vary, some letters may take longer to arrive than others.
If your letter still hasn’t arrived after a reasonable amount of time, please contact us. We’ll review your order with you and see how we can help.

How long will the launch price be available?
The launch price of $11.99/month is available for a limited time.
We haven’t set an end date yet, and the price may change for new subscriptions in the future.
Will I keep the launch price?
Yes. If you subscribe at the $11.99/month launch price, you’ll keep that price for as long as your subscription remains active.
Even if the price changes for new members in the future, your $11.99/month price will stay the same while your subscription remains active.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time.
